Bass Associates is a professional firm governed by the Law Society of Upper Canada. The Associates are professionals who are members of the Law Society of Upper Canada, acting exclusively for employers and practicing exclusively in labour and employment matters.

Our professional team deals regularly with the preparation and presentation of written briefs and submissions for employers to interest and rights arbitration boards, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Employment Standards Branch of the Ministry of Labour, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and its Appeals Tribunal, the Human Rights Tribunal, and the Pay Equity Commission.

Government Bodies (Federal, Ontario, Newfoundland, Saskatchewan and Alberta) consult Bass Associates for its input on matters relating to labour and employment legislation. We have provided a similar role for organizations such as the Ontario Association of Police Service Boards and the Ontario Long Term Care Association. Our professional team are also regularly asked or selected to speak in our areas of expertise at meetings and conventions.

Alternative Dispute Resolution

Our professional team has a wide variety of experience and training in alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. Notably, Mr. Bass and Mr. Winter were the first to introduce and use the Interest Based Bargaining approach in the Hospital Sector in the late 1990’s. . All Bass Associates’ professionals have extensive practical experience in dispute resolution, interest arbitration, rights arbitration, mediation of pay equity, human rights, and inter-personal relationship disputes in the workplace.
